Revenue from private lessons funds studio operations and subsidizes free programming.

Free Group Classes

Format: Group instruction (10-20 students per class)
Eligibility: Families for whom ballet class fees would create financial hardship

Free group classes provide professional instruction at no cost. Students receive the same quality training as paid programs, taught by young dancers with professional ballet training. Classes meet twice weekly and culminate in optional biannual performances.

Class Levels

All levels available in both free group classes and private lesson format. Within each age group, instruction is tailored to individual skill levels from beginner to advanced.

YOUTH (Ages 5-13)

What Students Learn: Introduction to ballet fundamentals including basic positions, movements, and terminology. As students progress, they build on foundational skills with more complex combinations, improved technique, and center work. Focus on coordination, musicality, proper alignment, and developing a love for dance in a supportive environment.

Goals:

  • Understand ballet vocabulary

  • Progress from basic positions to longer combinations

TEEN (Ages 13-20)

What Students Learn: Refined technique, choreography, and performance training designed for adolescent dancers. Classes acknowledge the unique physical and emotional development of teenage dancers while providing rigorous technical training and creative outlets. Includes contemporary styles and improvisation.

  • Develop performance presence and artistry

ADULT (Ages 20+)

What Students Learn: Ballet instruction designed specifically for adult bodies and learning styles. Classes accommodate all experience levels from complete beginners to those with previous training. Focus on proper technique, body awareness, strength, flexibility, and the enjoyment of movement in a judgment-free environment.

Goals:

  • Learn or refine ballet technique at any age

  • Develop strength, flexibility, and coordination

  • Improve posture and body awareness

  • Build confidence in movement

  • Continue progressing as a dancer


What to Expect

For Group Classes:

Students should wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Hair should be tied back. Ballet shoes are provided to any student who needs them.

Class structure typically includes:

  • Warm-up and stretching

  • Barre work (exercises using the ballet barre for support)

  • Center work (exercises in the middle of the room)

  • Across-the-floor combinations (traveling movements)

  • Cool-down

Classes are welcoming to beginners. Most students start with no prior dance experience.

For Private Lessons:

Private lesson students discuss goals with their instructor to create a customized curriculum. Sessions can focus on technique, performance preparation, specific skills, or general ballet training depending on student needs.
